​KACA and KF are delighted to announce our first collaborative research grant initiative, designed to support promising emerging communication scholars who have great potential and to foster innovative research in the field of Korean communication studies. This initiative will provide funding opportunities of $1,000 each to support four emerging communication scholars in pursuing their research projects, thereby promoting innovation and advancing scholarship in communication studies.

Qualifications:

• Must be a current member of the KACA (Membership can be obtained at the time of proposal submission)

• Must be no more than seven years past receiving their PhD, including graduate students, non- tenure-track, tenure-track faculty

• Must present their research in the realm of Korean communication studies at the AEJMC-KACA Research Session in August 2026

  • Research areas include interpersonal, intercultural, organizational, health, political, and mass communication; communication technology; and critical and cultural studies to advertising, marketing, public relations, journalism, and strategic communication in Korean contexts

• Must submit their research to the Korean Journal of Communication by mid-January 2027

Deadline:

All grant proposals must be submitted to icakaca2021@gmail.com by no later than July 22, Wednesday, 2026 (Midnight, EST).

Format:

Two proposal options are available. The proposal should be submitted as a single-spaced document of two to three pages (excluding the references) and should include the following:

1. Proposed Project: the project's title, description/objectives, a concise literature review, research questions or hypotheses, and a methodology section

2. Completed Project: the project's title, description/objectives, a concise literature review, research questions or hypotheses, a methodology section, and key findings

NOTE: The completed project must not be the same study that has been presented at other conferences.

Submissions must adhere to APA style or any other standard academic format. No budget justification is required.

Grant proposals should be emailed to icakaca2021@gmail.com Submissions must include a separate cover page with the paper title, project type (A. Proposed project or B. Completed project), author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), mailing address(es), email address(es), and phone number(s). To ensure blind review, the proposal should not contain any author-identifying information other than on the cover page.
